• “Thanksgiving is traditionally a time of year when we gather with family and friends in sincere gratitude for God’s abundant blessings. Time spent with our families reminds us to turn to God and be grateful for so many blessings.
As we gather with our family and friends, we must remember to give thanks to the One who blesses us, for God is the source of every gift. I encourage you to spend time with our Lord in prayer and especially at Mass. Thank Him for the many blessings, seen or unseen, that you have received, most especially for the gift of His Son Jesus in the Eucharist. The word “Eucharist” means thanksgiving and we have no more perfect way to thank the Father than to join ourselves to Christ’s perfect act of thanksgiving.
As I reflect on this year, I remain truly grateful to see the Holy Spirit at work within our diocese through each of you: our faithful laity, clergy, religious, and seminarians. Your steadfast devotion to the Church and its mission gives me, your bishop, many reasons to be thankful. It is my joy and privilege to join with you in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
On Thanksgiving Day, let us remember, give thanks, and share the many blessings from our God.”
