November 30th, when not the first Sunday of Advent, is traditionally the Feast of St. Andrew the Apostle. This feast day is the beginning of a beautiful devotion called the St. Andrew Novena.
Though not a true novena in the sense that it is not prayed for 9 days, it is still a great way to prepare our minds and our hearts for Christmas. It starts today and continues each day through December 24. To pray it, simply recite the following prayer 15 times a day from November 30th until Christmas Eve, naming any intention(s) you wish to pray for:
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen.
St. Andrew, pray for us!
