On this Second Sunday of Advent, we hear Isaiah’s prophetic promise of the “shoot from the stump of Jesse” who will judge with righteousness and Saint Paul’s reminder that Sacred Scripture was written for our instruction so that “by encourage of the Scriptures we may have hope.” In the Gospel, Saint John the Baptist urgently calls us to “repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!” May we open our hearts, turn away from sin, and prepare the way for the coming of Christ.
