The fourth pillar of Bishop Hying’s vision for our cathedral is the role it will play in service to others.
“The Cathedral of St. Bernard of Clairvaux will be a place of Christian charity and service. Rooted in the mission of Christ, it will provide a home for works of mercy supporting those who are poor, homeless, or in need. It will embody the Church’s call to serve, reminding us that the Eucharist celebrated here propels us outward to love and serve others.” -Bishop Hying
Our worship of God impels us to serve the poor and needy, for whenever we serve them, we serve Christ. Our new cathedral will be a place where all the faithful can come not only to be nourished, but to extend that nourishment to others through works of mercy.
