In recognition of the 60th anniversary of the Sacred Vatican Council on Dec. 8, Bishop Knestout’s latest column reflects on “Gaudium et Spes,” or “Joy and Hope,” The Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World, a document written as part of the Second Vatican Council.
It outlines how the Church addresses the challenges of the modern world while remaining deeply rooted in faith.
He writes, “As the world continues to change, so, too, must the Church respond to those changes. We must be in the world, not of the world.”
