• On Friday, November 21, hundreds of families received free Thanksgiving meals when Jaindl Family Turkey Farms, Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Allentown, and Senators Jarrett Coleman and Nick Miller united at the Cathedral of St. Catharine of Siena in Allentown to give away 272 turkeys and bags of groceries to those in need. Well in advance of the 3:30 p.m. start time, community members lined up around the Cathedral parking lot.

The Catholic Charities Food Truck parked beside a Jaindl Family Farms truck to form an assembly line of food. Bishop Schlert personally handed out bags of groceries from the Catholic Charities truck while “Phil the Bag,” the Catholic Charities mascot, greeted families as they moved through the line.

Senator Coleman and Senator Miller worked together with volunteers to unload the turkeys from the Jaindl truck. They passed the birds to Coleman’s daughter and son, both students at St. Joseph the Worker School in Orefield, who then handed the turkeys to guests with a cheerful, “Happy Thanksgiving!”
