On March 27, 2023, six beautiful, innocent lives were senselessly ended during a mass shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville.

Three of the victims were schoolchildren. Three of the victims were faculty or staff members. All were loved by their family, friends, classmates, co-workers, and Nashville community. We remember their names in our hearts: Evelyn Dieckhaus, 9; William Kinney, 9; Hallie Scruggs, 9; Cynthia Peak, 61, substitute teacher; Mike Hill, 61, custodian; Katherine Koonce, 60, head of school.

O God, you form an everlasting covenant of love with your people by the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of your Son. Be our refuge in times of trial, our strength in distress, our comfort in sorrow. Grant that we may hold dear the memory of our six departed sons and daughters of God. Though we remain bowed down with grief, may we find consolation through the assurance of your unyielding love and mercy. Through the same Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
