Archbishop Christopher Coyne was the principal celebrant this morning at the annual Archdiocese of Hartford Catholic Schools Educators Mass & Celebration at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph in Hartford, sponsored by the Connecticut Catholic Foundation. Several priests who have charge of schools in the archdiocese concelebrated, along with Monsignor James Shanley, Father John Melnick, and Father Anthony Federico, who gave a wonderful talk to the teachers and administrators before Mass.
Valerie Mara, Superintendent of Catholic Schools, gave the opening address and hosted the awards ceremony that followed the Mass. Several teachers received the 2024-2025 Light of Christ Award. “This award recognizes outstanding teachers whose lives ae guided by Catholic principles, who serve as inspirational role models to students and peers, and who consistently demonstrate excellence in teaching and learning.”
Recognition was also given to those who are celebrating milestone Years of Service to Catholic Education.
