April begins in the midst of Lent, but on April 20, we move into the celebration of the most solemn and sublime event of human history – the Resurrection of Jesus Christ – the Paschal mystery. For this reason, the month of April is traditionally dedicated to the Eucharist, the body, blood, soul, and divinity of Christ with us. As we celebrate Easter, this also is a special time for Catholics to deepen our understanding and appreciation of Christ in the Eucharist, as the source, summit, and sustenance of our faith.
The month of April also is dedicated to the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity. Every time we recite the Nicene Creed we are reminded that the love of the Father for the Son and the Son for the Father is the Holy Spirit. The more fully we allow ourselves to be drawn and guided by the Holy Spirit, the closer we shall come to Jesus and His mysteries and graces.
