Hundreds of Catholics from parishes and schools in Galveston-Houston joined Archbishop Joe Vásquez and other Texas bishops on the steps of the Texas State Capitol in Austin for Catholic Advocacy Day to stand for justice, compassion and witness to the common good in Texas. Throughout the day, Archbishop Vásquez, Bishop Italo Dell’Oro and other leaders from Catholic schools and parishes — as well as many other social and church ministries— met with Texas lawmakers and their staff to encourage them to uphold policies that respect the human dignity, especially those currently under consideration in Texas legislature. Catholic school students also participated in mock hearings and visited the Senate and House chambers.
