• RECTORY, SET, COOK! IV: Pastor Chef Spotlight

At @Christ the King Pa in Archbald, a stalwart band of friends and cooks (and friends in cooking) has annually chopped 240 heads of cabbage and nearly as many onions and garlic cloves to produce what is, hands down, the parish festival’s best-selling festival food.

Father Ryan Glenn, pastor, couldn’t wait until summer to get a taste of the haluski that is served each year – and known by parishioners “up and down the line.”

This year, they’ll up the ante to 264 heads of cabbage – that’s 11 cases with 24 heads each – and probably still will sell out, they say. They always do.

The recipe is fairly basic yet not at all easy, because, of course, all that chopping in mass quantities is quite labor-intensive. But you know the deal: This is truly a labor of love.
