• The source of the Christian supernatural life begins in the waters of baptism. We emerge from the water purified of sin and newly born in the Holy Spirit. We become “new creatures,” adopted children of the most high God, incorporated into the Body of Christ, bearing an indelible spiritual mark, signifying that we belong to Christ, and not even sin can erase that mark. Through the water of baptism, the Most Holy Trinity gives us sanctifying grace, enabling us to believe and hope in and love God. We receive the power to live and behave under the prompting of the Holy Spirit through His gifts, and we are marked with the seal of eternal life (CCC 1262-1274).
