Palm Sunday marks the day of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. The crowds were chanting “Hosana! Blessed is the King, the One who comes in the name of the Lord.” But many in the crowd didn’t know the significance of this moment nor that by the end of the week, everything would take a drastic turn. Jesus would be arrested and sentenced to death.
Jesus himself mourned for Jerusalem upon entering the city, stating that the people “did not recognize the time of your visitation.” The crowds did not see Jesus as the one who brings peace into their world especially into their hearts.
How often do we do the same? We long to be saved from our circumstances instead of being transformed by them. Through the chaos and busy-ness of life, we sometimes miss what God wants to do in the midst of our suffering and pain. We easily call out evil all around us but fail to see the same that resides in our own hearts.
Do you look to Jesus to save you from your circumstances? Or do you look to Jesus for what he can do amid them?
This week, as we reflect on the events of Holy Week, let Jesus into your heart. Allow him to bring you true peace of mind, body and soul as we journey towards his glorious resurrection on Easter.
