Easter is a season!
While you might be tempted to think that Easter is over, Easter Sunday is just the beginning of our Easter celebration. It begins a 50-day season of rejoicing and thanksgiving for Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection which gave us victory over death. This period is also known as “Eastertide” ends on Pentecost (this year on June 8).
Similar to Christmas, the Church dedicates an entire season to rejoicing after a season of intense prayer and sacrifice. We feast upon the goodness of the Lord and all He has done for us.
So don’t go back to ordinary living and keep those spring decorations up just a little bit longer. Stay in this season of rejoicing, celebration, and thanksgiving. Jesus IS risen! Alleluia!
