Proclaim the truth and do not be silent through fear. – St. Catherine of Siena
St. Catherine of Siena (1347-1380) was unafraid to declare her love for God and faith. Her spiritual testament is found in her writings, the Dialogue of Divine Providence and through the hundreds of letters she wrote. St. Catherine also ranks high among the spiritual writers of the Church. In 1939, she and St. Francis of Assisi were declared co-patrons of Italy. Pope Paul VI gave her the title of Doctor of the Church in 1970, making her one of the first women to receive this honor.
Though she lived in a world far different from that of our own, St. Catherine of Siena stands with us as a companion on our spiritual journey. On your journey, how will you proclaim the truth of Christ without fear?
