PRAY: ROSARY NOVENA FOR THE CONCLAVE | DAY 1: Those cardinals who are eligible to vote for the next Bishop of Rome will gather in conclave in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel from Wednesday, May 7, to begin the prayerful process of electing a new Pope.
In the days prior, Bishop Boyea of Lansing is urging us to pray the Holy Rosary on a daily basis in order to invoke the maternal protection of Mary, Mother of the Church, and to ask that the Holy Spirit inspires those charged with choosing our new Holy Father.
Today we recite the five Luminous Mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary. These mysteries reflect upon the public life of Christ. They are:
1. The Baptism of Jesus (Matthew 3:16-17)
2. The Wedding Feast at Cana (John 2:5-7)
3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom of God (Matthew 10:7-8)
4. The Transfiguration (Luke 9:29, 35)
5. The Institution of the Eucharist (Luke 22:19-20)Concluding prayer:
O Lord, guide the Cardinals as they gather. Send Your Holy Spirit: Grant them wisdom and right judgment, so that they may elect a shepherd after your own Heart, who will please you by his holiness, confirm his brothers in the truth, and tend to your people in love. We ask these blessings in the name of Christ our Lord. Amen.
