The mourning period for Pope Francis concluded yesterday and as the cardinals prepare to enter the conclave to elect our next pope, parishes in our diocese will host special Masses this week to pray for them.
Prince of Peace Parish, for example, will host two Masses for the Election of a Pope on Wednesday, May 7, first at 7:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church in Lewiston, and a second at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Lisbon Falls. At 10:30 a.m. the bells at the basilica and Holy Family will ring solemnly for three minutes to mark the official start of the conclave in Rome, which begins at 4:30 p.m. in Vatican City. At 6 p.m. a holy hour with vespers and rosary will also be held in the Dominican Chapel at the basilica.
