Today Archbishop Joe S. Vásquez called for prayers for Daniel Cardinal DiNardo and all cardinals participating in the conclave as it began in the Sistine Chapel today.

“Please join me in praying for Cardinal DiNardo and all the cardinals participating in the upcoming papal conclave. We are truly privileged that Cardinal DiNardo is there representing the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. We know that he carries us in his heart; and he knows that we will be present with him.

This is a very critical moment in the life of the Church; whoever the College of Cardinals elects will very much be done in a spirit of prayer. We entrust ourselves in the Holy Spirit to guide the cardinals in choosing the next pope; we are going to love and be faithful to the Holy Father, and we’re going to follow his leadership in shepherding our Church.”
