St. Damien de Veuster was a Begian-born American Catholic and member of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary. He cared for people in a leper colony before contracting the disease. However, he continued his work until he succumbed to his illness in 1889. He is the patron saint of leprosy. #saint #feastday #Catholic
