• Saint Pancras was a courageous young martyr of the early Church. Born around 289 A.D. in Phrygia (modern-day Turkey), Pancras was orphaned at a young age and moved to Rome with his uncle. Sometime near 303 AD, he was brought before authorities and told to perform a sacrifice to the Roman gods. But Pancras refused.

At just 14 years old, Pancras boldly professed his belief in Christ before the Roman authorities and was beheaded during the reign of Emperor Diocletian. His steadfast witness inspired many, and devotion to him spread quickly, especially in England, where one of the oldest churches — Saint Pancras Old Church — is named in his honor.

Saint Pancras reminds us that holiness and courage are not limited by age. May we, like him, remain faithful to Christ in the face of trials. Saint Pancras, pray for us!
