• Prayers – thousands of prayers of hope, healing, compassion, and mercy! That is what this gorgeous piece of woven art represents!
Bethany, WV artist Kevin Clancy unveiled his masterpiece for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston and all those who participated in the April 7, 2024, LOUDfence Mass and Ceremony by tying prayer ribbons to the iron fence and railing around the Wheeling cathedral.
Clancy, an art professor at Bethany University, curator at the Ogelbay Stifel Center, and owner of Americannibalism Studio, secured the piece that holds literally thousands of feet of ribbon with 288 hand turned diamond head screws.
The piece mimics the Cathedral of St Joseph’s rose window.
A Mass of blessing will be scheduled soon with Bishop Mark Brennan as celebrant.
Then the masterpiece will travel acrosss the diocese to our parishes for the faithful to see in person, reflectxt on its meaning, and continue the prayers it breathtakingly represents
LOUDfence is an international organization to support faithful Christians who have been abused, as well as the faithful who care and pray for healing, hope, and change.
A LOUDfence is a way to bring a hushed and taboo topic into a healthy conversation and act of solidarity as a step forward together.
Our WV event was the first outisde of Europe where the organization began.
