      Today marks 1700 years since the opening of the Council of Nicaea, which took place in the year 325 in Asia Minor. It was the first ecumenical council in history, and it produced the creed that, completed by the First Council of Constantinople in 381, has become the distinctive expression of the Church’s faith in Jesus Christ.

      In April, the International Theological Commission released a document highlighting the significance and historical importance of the Council, as well as the resources that the Nicene creed contains.
