Archbishop Christopher Coyne celebrated a Baccalaureate Mass for St. Paul Catholic High School this evening at St. Gregory the Great Church in Bristol. Father Dan Hackenjos, Father Hector Rangel, Father Ivan Ramirez, and Father Edward Przygocki concelebrated.
During the Presentation of Gifts, many items were brought forward, including an American flag for the archbishop to bless while the following was prayed: “Heavenly Father, maker and lover of all, we ask You to bless the people of our country and of our school. Bless this flag and let it always remind us of the principles it stands for. Help us to work together in peace so that we may give You glory in our lives. We ask this grace, loving Father, through Christ our Lord. Amen.” This flag will be presented to next year’s senior class and fly over the school during the 2025-2026 academic year.
At the end of Mass, servant towels were blessed and given to the graduating students while the following was read: “At the Last Supper, Jesus took a towel and washed the feet of His disciples sharing that He came into the world not to be served, but to serve. From the Gospel of John, it is written, “So when He had washed their feet and reclined at table again, He said to them, “Do you realize what I have done for you? You call Me teacher and master, and rightly so, for indeed I am. If I, therefore, the master and teacher have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.”
