• The Filipino community in the Diocese of Beaumont joyfully celebrated the annual Santacruzan at St. Pius X Parish on May 25. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Bishop Danny Parcon of the Diocese of Talibon in the Philippines, with Fr. Ernie Carpio and Fr. Rodel Faller serving as concelebrants. Following the Mass, the faithful participated in a vibrant procession to the Parish Center, where the celebration continued with fellowship and community gathering.
Santacruzan is a cherished Catholic tradition in the Philippines, held every May as part of the Flores de Mayo (Flowers of May) devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. It commemorates the legendary search for the True Cross by Queen Helena (Reyna Elena) and her son, Emperor Constantine. The celebration includes a colorful procession featuring young women dressed in elegant attire, representing various biblical and historical figures, led by Reyna Elena bearing a cross. Blending faith, culture, and pageantry, Santacruzan is a meaningful expression of Filipino heritage and Marian devotion.
