• On Thursday, May 29, at the Catholic Pastoral Center, Bishop J. Mark Spalding of Nashville, center, met with members of the Nashville council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, including Chip Fye, council vice president and parishioner of St. Christopher Church in Dickson, left, and Mark Gunning, council treasurer and parishioner of St. Henry Church, right.

The goal of the St. Vincent DePaul Society is to enrich the spiritual lives of its members and to serve the poor with material help and support. Last year, 7,749 families in need were served. In addition, 256 lay Vincentians in 13 parishes of the Diocese of Nashville provided 19,264 hours of service, and $783,000 was provided to “neighbors in need” in support for housing, utilities, food, medical assistance, clothing, and other needs.

Three new parish conferences were added in 2024, with others currently in formation stages for the coming year. Two parishes are now offering predatory loan conversion programs.
