Florida man has traveled a road less traveled to the priesthood

DELRAY BEACH | Father Robert Pope Jr.’s life path has certainly been filled with twists and turns, and his journey to the priesthood has definitely been a path less traveled.

“It is a beautiful life,” said Father Pope about his priestly ministry that started in his later years and says that he will never retire. “The priesthood is a worthy vocation.”

Father Pope, 73, celebrated his ninth year in the priesthood May 7 at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Delray Beach, his new home since last July, when he was appointed there to serve as a parochial vicar. He is the former pastor of St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fort Pierce.
