Today marks the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist!
The Church celebrates only three birthdays on the liturgical calendar: The Nativity of Our Lord, the Nativity of His Mother, and the Nativity of His forerunner, St. John the Baptist.
St. John the Baptist was set apart from the womb to prepare the way of the Lord and was a significant figure connected to the Incarnation and the Redemption. Due to his significance, the Church honors this saint and acknowledges his work in preparing the way for Christ!
