Pilgrims accompanying Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger in Rome have become immersed in the physical and spiritual presence of the holy men and women upon whom the Church is built.
Touring the city’s basilicas, witnessing the places where some of the Church’s earliest saints were martyred, and taking in the relics of St. Peter have all been part of the pilgrimage — highlighted, of course, by Pope Leo XIV’s imposition of the pallium upon Archbishop Weisenburger’s shoulders June 29, the feast of SS. Peter and Paul.
Taken together, it’s a reminder that the Church is both ancient and forever new.
