St. Maria Goretti was born into a poor farming family and never received any formal schooling. At 12 years old, she passed away after being attacked and spent her final hours concerned with the forgiveness of her attacker.
Her mother, sisters, and two brothers were in attendance when she was beatified by Pope Pius XII in 1947. She was canonized three years later, with the largest crowd ever assembled for a canonization at the time. St. Maria, patron saint of Catholic youth and teenagers, pray for us! #FeastDay
