Roger that!
Born in Italy during the 11th century, St. Roger was an inspiring example of sharing the love of God and embracing a life of servant leadership all in the name of God.
His family was very well to do, but he had no interest in wealth and the privileges that came along with this birthright.
Roger was inspired by the teachings and example of St. Francis of Assisi.
He joined the Franciscan Order, embracing the humble life of prayer and preaching. His compassion and empathetic nature made him very well loved and respected.
Don’t let his humility fool you though, Roger defended his faith and Christians courageously!
Church history notes that St. Roger was involved in the Battle of Cannae in 1018. His leadership was a victory for Christians, and his town was spared.
Many miracles have been attributed to him. He is the patron saint of Apulia, Italy.
