Grow in virtue!
What does that really mean?
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (1833) it is to grow in the resolve to have “a habitual and firm disposition to do good.”
And – of course – thanks be to God, we have a saint for that!
Saint Kilian lived in 640-689 A.D. He was born in Ireland, but made his mark in Church history by evangelizing Germany.
He was a powerful preacher and impressed people even the Duke of the region to be less selfish and more mindful to do good – considering it a holy habit to honor God. It is when we fail to choose good and turn our backs to the virtues – faith, hope, love (charity), prudence, justice, fortitude, and temperance.
Saint Kilian convinced the people of Franconia, Germany, that virtues are dead unless we nurture them and constantly make a conscious effort to seek to do good. It’s easy street not to, but where will that lead you.
Learn and want a virtuous life, seek to practice the seven virtues, and you will not only be a stronger more confident human on this earth, but have eternal life with Almighty God.
