Not everyone goes from Janitor to the Pope, but not everyone is Jorge Mario Bergoglio, either—or as we know him, Pope Francis.
Born in Argentina, Pope Francis entered the Jesuits at a young age and became known as the Pope of Mercy for his unceasing encouragement to receive God’s abundant mercy. As he was fond of saying, “God never tires of showing us mercy. It’s only we who tire of asking for it.”
As we transition under a new Pope (and a new Bishop-Elect in our own diocese), let us take a moment to honor and pray for Pope Francis, who did so much to remind us of God’s inexhaustible love and mercy for all.
Be sure to grab a copy of the Bayou Catholic from your local parish to read the full reflection on Pope Francis (or read it online at http://www.bayoucatholic.org/news).
