Red Bird Ministries understands that the early months of grief after the loss of a child are marked by profound shock, disorientation, and emotional vulnerability. Because of this, our team does not recommend participation in our group programming during the first 3–6 months of bereavement. In this tender season, families are best served through personalized one-on-one support—such as counseling, spiritual direction, pastoral care, or individual comfort meetings—where their unique sorrow can be held with focused attention and compassion. Our group-based programming is most beneficial for those who have reached a point of readiness for communal healing and peer connection. We encourage those accompanying families in early grief to gently guide them toward individualized support that meets them where they are, allowing space for their hearts to begin healing in safety and love.
