Welcome Elsa Aguilera: Our New Safe Environment Coordinator!
We are pleased to welcome Elsa Aguilera to the Diocese of Laredo as our new Safe Environment Coordinator!
Elsa joined us in June 2025 and brings a strong background in ministry, mental health, and family support. A proud Laredo native, she recently returned from Houston and is grateful to be back serving her home community.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston Downtown, and a Master of Social Work with a focus on Child and Family Policy from the University of Houston.
Elsa’s work has focused on areas such as:
Human trafficking & child exploitation
Trauma & grief support
Family life ministry & bereavement careShe has served as a Student Support & Wellness Counselor and ministered through the Office of Family Life Ministry in the Archdiocese of Galveston Houston. She is also a certified Creative Grief Practitioner, trained in trauma-informed care and grief-informed practices, and recently earned a certificate in Financial Social Work Counseling.

In her free time, Elsa enjoys being with her family, cooking, exercising with her dog Ginger, and reading the spiritual writings of saints like St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Teresa of Avila, and St. John of the Cross.
Elsa is passionate about creating safe, supportive environments for all and looks forward to working with each of you in this important mission.
